In short: NYCTAVIS is a local-first Windows application. It runs entirely on your computer. It does not send your files, paths, scan results or usage anywhere. There is no NYCTAVIS cloud, no telemetry, and no NYCTAVIS account required for Free.

1. Who we are

NYCTAVIS ("the app", "we") is a desktop utility for Windows that helps you find junk, duplicate files and reclaimable disk space, and clean only what you approve. This policy explains how the app handles information.

2. Data we collect

We do not collect any personal data. NYCTAVIS has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and does not create NYCTAVIS user accounts. We do not receive your files, file names, folder paths, scan results or system information — none of it is transmitted to us or to any third party.

3. Data processed locally on your device

To do its job, the app reads your disk and stores its working data only on your computer, under your user profile (for example %LOCALAPPDATA%\LocalSystemAuditor). This includes:

Scan results and recommendations (a local database);
The quarantine (items you chose to isolate) and the action history;
Your preferences (such as the interface language).

This data never leaves your device. You can remove it at any time by uninstalling the app or deleting the folder above.

4. Network use

NYCTAVIS performs its disk analysis and cleanup locally and does not upload your data. Microsoft Store may use an internet connection to download or update the app, complete a Pro purchase, and provide license status. Files, folder paths and scan results are not sent to Microsoft Store as part of those operations.

5. Cleaning and deletion

Scan findings are not removed without your explicit confirmation. Reversible actions use the managed local quarantine when applicable. Valid quarantined items are retained for 20 days and can be restored during that period; NYCTAVIS shows an advance notice one day before automatic removal. Other permanent deletion actions are clearly identified and confirmed.

6. Purchases

If you buy the optional one-time Pro upgrade, the purchase is handled by the Microsoft Store under Microsoft's own terms and privacy policy. A Microsoft account may be required by the Store. NYCTAVIS only checks the Store license status; it does not process or store your payment information.

7. Third-party components

The app is built with third-party open-source components (such as the Qt/PySide framework and psutil). Their license notices are included with the application. These components run locally and do not send your data anywhere.

8. Children

NYCTAVIS is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. Since it collects no personal data, it does not knowingly process any data from children.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
